In 2001, Sierra Pacific Industries (SPI), parent company of Sierra Pacific Windows, successfully completed an independent audit of its forestlands, wood procurement, millwork and windows under the Sustainable Forestry Initiative ® (SFI) This milestone cleared the way for Sierra Pacific to begin on-product labeling of its windows and doors with the SFI ® label and demonstrates Sierra Pacific’s commitment to the environment and to the Green Building effort. The SFI label on all of our windows and doors gives the Green Build community an easily identifiable mark of Sierra Pacific’s environmentally friendly and sustainable product line.

We achieved voluntary third-party certification of our 1.5 million acres of forestlands under the American Forest and Paper Association’s Sustainable Forestry Initiative program. The comprehensive audit was performed by KPMG Quality Registrar Inc. of Vancouver, BC, to ensure that our company’s operations are in conformance with the SFI standard.

The SFI program is a rigorous system of environmental and conservation practices for wildlife and water quality protection, bio-diversity conservation, harvesting practices and a wide range of other conservation goals. Through the SFI program, landowners have protected hundreds of special sites and have conserved the wildlife habitats of thousands of species.
